First of all because they're all young and it's took me a long time to get young and now I consider myself young. And I'm proud of it. I'm proud that I'm young. And I only wish that all you people who are sitting out here today or tonight weren't here and I could see all kinds of faces with hair on their head - and everything like that, everything leading to youngness....

There's no black and white, left and right to me anymore; there's only up and down and down is very close to the ground. 再拒劇團2002年由新生代的台灣劇場工作者成立,以劇場、音樂演出、劇展乃至小型藝術節策畫等各種創作型態推出製作,我們將劇場視為一種社群意識的建立,成為讓個人或者團體可以分享觀念、產生變化的康莊大道。再拒的創作多以劇團成員的社會觀察為發想,多部環境劇(Site-Specific Theater)、音樂劇與詩劇的演出,累積了多元的藝術公共意識,並探索當代青年在全球化影響下的階級處境、性別、身分認同與生存意識。
Against-Again Troupe was founded in 2002 by a group of younger generation theatre workers in Taiwan, and have been producing works in the form of theatre, musical performance, showcases, and small-scale theatre festivals. We see the theatre as a means of establishing a sense of community, a place where individuals and groups can share their ideas, and changes can be brought about. The creative works of Against-Again are often based on social observations of our individual artists, and are staged in a variety of forms including elements of site-specific theatre, musical drama, and performance poetry. Through the accumulated multi-faceted public consciousness in our art, we attempt to examine the condition of contemporary young people in our age of globalization, in regards to class, gender, identity and survival.
我們以為,在幕升幕落,場燈明滅之間,劇場做為一個即生即死的藝術,本就是年輕並且拒絕長大的、永恆的「童子」。而「拒絕」亦非「接受」的反面,它是我們每一個人在社會中尋求立足點的方式,在生活中實踐個體自由與責任時所選擇的態度。
We believe that , from curtain to curtain, lights to lights out, theatre is an ephemeral art. And as such, it is always young, refusing to grow up—a child forever. “Refusing” is not the opposite of “accepting;” it is a way for every person to find a stand in society, and an attitude we choose to fulfill our individual freedom and responsibility in life.
